In the last year or so businesses that employ low skill or no skill workers have come under fire from a group of economic neophytes demanding $15 per hour minimum wage. This idiotic demand that workers who have either limited or no skills are somehow worthy of $15 per hour is simply ridiculous. Those who are requesting this outrageous increase don’t understand economics, business, corporate goals, law of substitution and fairness. In some states skilled trained highly valuable workers in noble professions don’t earn $15 per hour. Teachers, Firemen, Police Officers make less than $15 per hour in some communities so how is it fair, reasonable or rational that someone who hasn’t committed themselves to education, training or harm that they are worth more. If people want to earn more they need to increasing their value by training, education, tenure and advancement. This $15 per hour is part of the “everyone get a trophy” epidemic. People no longer feel like they must earn what they get, it is simply given to them for showing up.
If you want to earn more, you need to do more….
The effects of raising everyone who doesn’t deserve a pay increase will significantly impact every other wager earner who earns at or near $15 per hour and every employer that pays skilled, valuable trained workers at or near $15 per hour. If you are a politician or activist who embraces the $15 an hour movement I’m pretty sure you are not worthy of $15 per hour because you obviously lack
